One Series to Rule Them All

As kids, we all longed for something more in our lives. Some of us wanted to be wizards, others wanted a pet dragon, or maybe even wanted to adventure in a mysterious land of wonder. The Lord of the Rings contains everything that you could have ever dreamed of. If you want to experience something extraordinarily magical and intense, The Lord of the Rings is what you need in your life. On the other hand, if you have already seen The Lord of the Rings, maybe it’s time to jump back into the series and watch it a second, third, or maybe even fourth time because you know you want to.

Unique World

Every Fantasy movie ever made needs to take place somewhere magical and amazing in order to be Fantasy, without the magical world it just doesn’t feel right. All movies in the series The Lord of the Rings takes place in a very unique world with very unique environments. It begins in the Shire where the Hobbits take up residence in houses built in hills covered in shimmering green grass. As the story goes on there is even more magical and out of this world places, like Rivendell; the place where Elves reside between the mountains on top of a waterfall. Rivendell is so gorgeous that anyone who lays eyes on it wishes that they could one day live in a place with at least half its beauty. Another setting in this series is Mordor. It isn’t beautiful, it’s frightening and stomach turning, but it is equally as out of this world as other places. The world in which this series takes place is what makes this series a true fantasy.

Outlandish Creatures

Another necessity in a fantasy movie is magical creatures. Magical creatures are what make up the entirety of a fantasy. When it comes to fantasy movies the unique world is like the bowl and the magical creatures are like the soup and you just can’t have a bowl without soup. Shit’s not natural. There are tons of different characters in this series, the types that we read about as children, like wizards, elves, hobbits, dragons, orcs, etc.  The characters in the series are so realistic that children that would watch it would think that they’re real… we would think they were real if we didn’t know any better. Hobbits really do look like short little men with extraordinarily hairy feet; Orcs really do look like mutated creatures grown in the mud; and the dragon actually looks like a dragon in all its glory.

Special Effects

The world and all the characters would not be possible without the special effects. Without special effects it would be a horribly corny film of men in bad costumes running around in painted sets. A fantasy movie requires special effects in order to be what it is. The special effects in this series are truly amazing; it made it possible to put what we had imagined right before our eyes. All the special effects make you feel like you’re right there in all the action experiencing all the emotion that goes along with it.   Whoever is in charge of them is doing a stand up job and deserves the internet. They get a 10/10 for the special effects in this series. Seriously, someone needs to start the slow clap for these people.

Plot

One last thing that every fantasy movie should have is a plot or quest that really captures the reader’s/viewer’s attention. A good and unique plot really takes a lot of hard work and dedication to come up with; one that truly captures the heart of anyone that experiences it. The plot of the Lord of the Rings really did capture the heart of most, if not all of its viewers. It has many trials and tribulations that our loving characters must endure. It captures the essence of life in a way; showing that we must endure many physical challenges and finding that the toughest of them all are the internal battles.

Frodo

So, if you want to become a wizard, have a pet dragon, or adventure in a mysterious land of wonder, the Lord of the Rings is truly a great way to have any of those and if you have already seen this series you know what to do. It is definitely a 10/10 fantasy movie; containing everything and then some. The only cons to this series are the length. For those of you with a short attention span, this series may be too long and for those of you who read the books the movies may be too short.
